Students Share Traditions and Talent in “People of the Pacific” Class

They are sharing culture and building community in a class, that’s also a club, called “People of the Pacific” at West Jordan High School.

On this episode of the Supercast, find out how students are unleashing lots of talent, taking to the stage in dance competitions to showcase their rich cultural traditions from various Pacific Island nations. They are students proudly supporting one another on a path to greater academic success.


“Future Money Makers Mashup” Introduces Students to the Diverse World of Finance

They are young minds ready to invest in their futures, learning about financial success. On Wednesday, more than 250 ninth grade students, representing all 12 middle schools in Jordan School District, met at the Salt Lake Community College Miller Campus for a seminar called “Future Money Makers Mashup.”

Students who showed an aptitude for finance based on their YouScience results were invited to the event to learn how finance can be more than just careers in banking or Wall Street. More than a dozen presenters spoke about their careers in finance, representing a diverse group of industries, including aerospace, arts, construction, engineering, education, hospitality, and marketing.

The event was made possible by a sponsorship from Cyprus Credit Union and a partnership with the South Valley Chamber of Commerce. A special thank you to all the presenters for sharing their time and knowledge with Jordan School District students.

Mountain Ridge High School Percussion Ensemble to Compete in World Championships

They are packing their percussion instruments and headed out for a pretty prestigious competition. The Mountain Ridge High School percussion ensemble will be competing in the WGI 2025 Percussion World Championships this week in Dayton Ohio. A total of 34 students will be competing led by band director Cris Stiles.

They will be performing “Echoes of Ashes,” a set depicting the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii when they compete on Thursday morning.

Students Display Creativity at Riverton Art Exhibition

High School students throughout the Jordan School District are showcasing their talents in Riverton this month. The Old Dome Meeting Hall is displaying over 100 captivating pieces created by student artists ranging in mediums from photography, sculpture, painting, drawing, and more.
 
The public is invited to come view the exhibit Monday – Wednesday from Noon – 5 p.m. until April 30. Congratulations to all of the exceptional students participating!
